Whimsical Fashion Design Showcase: Cottagegore Collection

Hello Nyamily! I hope you're all having an amazing summer so far.

On a personal note, I definitely have! Running a small (but growing!) business while also making time for my personal life can be a challenge, but it's been incredibly rewarding. I'm proud of all the work we accomplished recently. We've been fulfilling thousands of orders every month from our own office with our small team, while also working through our older pre-orders at the same time. We've made huge progress over the past few months and are finally getting close to the finish line! I can safely say one thing though...I will never take on that many Phase 1 pre-orders at once ever again 😂

Soon, I'll actually be taking a short break while my wonderful little team keeps everything running behind the scenes. I'll be heading to a remote cottage somewhere in Canada. Funny enough, even as a Canadian, I'd never heard of this place until recently! I've also never stayed at a cottage before, so I'm looking forward to my first proper cottage getaway.

Speaking of current events, we're also dealing with some pretty poor air quality because of the wildfires. If you're being affected too, please stay safe, take care of yourself, and stay indoors whenever possible.

Which brings me to today's interest check! Since cottages have been on my mind lately, I thought it was finally time to share my Cottagegore Collection.

These designs have actually been finished since June 2025. I'd been sitting on them for over a year because I wasn't sure if the aesthetic was a little too niche...so they just quietly stayed in my folder until now 😭 Looking at them again, though, I think they're such a perfect transition between summer and autumn.

For now, there are only two designs, but if you all enjoy this little collection, I'd absolutely love to expand it with more outfits, accessories, and matching pieces in the future.

As always, let me know what you think! I'd love to hear your feedback, and thank you so much for supporting my little corner of whimsical fashion.

Looking for something available now?

1) Cottagegore Shortalls & Sweater

Illustrated front and back concept art of the Cottagegore Shortalls & Sweater, featuring nature-inspired short overalls with mushrooms, wildflowers, spiderweb details, butterflies, and a matching distressed skeletal knit sweater.

I wanted these short overalls to feel like something you'd wear while wandering through an old overgrown forest, collecting wildflowers, mushrooms, and little treasures along the way. They're intentionally a little spooky, a little whimsical, and full of tiny details that reward a closer look. From the embroidered flowers and mushrooms to the delicate spiderwebs, butterflies, mossy gradients, and even the little spider crawling across one leg, I wanted them to feel like a tiny woodland ecosystem.

The matching sweater adds a cozy contrast with its distressed, well-loved look. The fading mossy sleeves and exposed skeleton graphic give it an eerie cottagecore vibe, as if it's been passed down for generations in an old cabin deep in the woods. I imagined it as the perfect oversized sweater to throw on during cool summer evenings or crisp autumn mornings.

Together, I think they capture that strange little feeling of finding beauty in forgotten places! It's equal parts cozy, mysterious, and a little bit haunted.

2) Cottagegore Dress

Illustrated front and back concept art of the Cottagegore Dress, a dark whimsical cottagegore dress with skeletal bodice details, blooming roses, butterflies, distressed hem, and an open lace-up back.

The Cottagegore Dress leans a little more into the eerie side of the collection. I wanted it to feel like nature slowly reclaiming something forgotten, with tangled vines, blooming wildflowers, tiny mushrooms, butterflies, and bones all coming together into one piece.

The front features a skeletal harness-inspired bodice that's intertwined with flowers and forest growth, almost as if the forest itself has grown around it over time. The ombré hem fades into deep crimson, giving it a slightly haunting, weathered look, while the open lace-up back continues the skeletal details with delicate straps and little woodland accents.

Although it's definitely one of the darker designs we've created, I still wanted it to feel beautiful rather than scary. It's the kind of dress I imagine wearing while wandering through forgotten gardens, abandoned cabins, or quiet forest trails where nature has completely taken over.

I think it perfectly captures the "gore" in Cottagegore without losing the whimsical feeling that's at the heart of Nyahallo.

I honestly wasn't sure whether to share these designs because they're a bit different from what I usually create, but I'm really glad I finally did. I think this collection has so much potential, and I'd love to keep exploring this slightly darker, cozy woodland aesthetic.

If I were to expand it, what would you like to see? Maybe a jacket, backpack, hoodie, cardigan, dress, skirt, knit sweater, accessories, or something completely different?
